Public Health Frontline Worker Showcase

Project Overview:

The Public Health Frontline Worker Showcase was organized to highlight the essential work of public health professionals, especially Community Health Workers (CHWs), in their communities. This project aimed to increase visibility and recognition for these professionals by featuring a series of photography sessions that captured their dedication and impact in addressing health inequities and improving community health outcomes. Over the course of three separate photography sessions, more than 90 public health professionals were featured.

Purpose:

This showcase was designed to:

– Promote Recognition: Acknowledge the tireless efforts of CHWs and frontline workers in promoting health equity and improving community health.

– Celebrate Contributions: Highlight the impactful work of public health professionals in addressing health disparities and engaging communities in health promotion.

– Foster Appreciation: Encourage broader community understanding and appreciation for the work done by frontline public health workers.

Key Features:

– Photography Sessions: Three separate professional photoshoots, capturing over 90 public health workers from diverse roles and backgrounds.

– Community Engagement: Showcasing the diverse roles of public health workers and how they make a difference in the lives of individuals and families.

– Public Health Impact: Emphasizing the importance of frontline workers in tackling health inequities and promoting health at the community level.

– Online Gallery: The photos are featured on the local CHW coalition website, which is powered by the local health department and the North Carolina Community Health Worker Association (NCCHWA), providing a platform for broader visibility and recognition.

Process:

Led the organization of this showcase by coordinating with local public health organizations to select participants, managing the logistics of the photoshoots, and working closely with photographers to capture the essence of each featured worker. I developed a mood board to guide the aesthetic direction of the photoshoots, ensuring that each image reflected the dignity and importance of the work being done. Additionally, I created logistics for the necessary documents, including consent forms, and developed surveys to collect participant information and obtain consent for participation. I also worked on crafting the messaging and outreach to increase engagement and recognition for public health professionals in our community.

Impact:

The showcase has helped raise awareness of the critical roles of public health professionals, particularly CHWs, in fostering health equity. It has also contributed to increased visibility and appreciation for frontline workers, showcasing their invaluable contributions to improving community health. The project has been shared across platforms, including the local CHW coalition website, to inspire others to recognize and support the work of public health professionals.
